Where can i buy subcutaneous fluids

I took the card and the prescription to six different pharmacies and got the best price from Walmart. I got the drip sets and needles from thrivingpets. No prescription necessary and the price was very low. I live in CT and by law they have to write you a prescription for your pet's meds. In other words, you are not required to buy the meds from them, where they will charge you 10 times as much literally. New York and California have the same law.

Even if you live in a state that hasn't adopted this law yet, almost all vets will write you a prescription if you ask them to. So don't feel the least bit guilty for buying your supplies from somewhere other than your vet. After all, wouldn't they do the same thing if they were in your situation? Just trying to help people save money who are trying to give their pets a better quality of life. Top Cat. In most cases a veterinarian is required to give you a prescriptions if you ask.

Understand it's not always money to them. If you leave with the medication your pet has a higher chance of getting it. Getting the first script of any drug from the vet lets you see the drug name and dose so that you are familiar with the product if you do order online.

I was mainly referring to the supplies needed for subcutaneous fluid injections, which are MUCH cheaper once you know where to buy them. Having done extensive research on this, I thought I would share my experience, saving others time and money. After all, I'm sure most of us have all spent enough just on visits to the vet.

I bought mine through Thriving Pets, there's a Facebook group I'm part of that has a discount code through them. Of course, I completely forgot it.

Anyway, this was my first time order fluids online, had no problem whatsoever. My vet also would have no problem writing a prescription for something if needed. While there is the point of view of them knowing that you are getting the medicine, if you're at the point you're getting subq fluids, odds are they don't have to worry about you actually getting it. Plus, my vet knows I get it because I do just get it online, so they fax him for it. Joined Nov 14, Messages 1 Purraise 1.

I think the Normosol-R is probably just Lactated Ringers solution. This next video is another example of giving fluids inside a carrier.

I like this video because it shows the use of numbing cream, which can help some cats who find the poke to be too painful.

One thing I would personally do differently is that I would keep one hand on the needle to prevent it from falling out during the process. Adding additional medications during a subq fluids session is somewhat common.

Here is a video demonstrating how to do that a broken arm is not required for this to work. Sophia Yin has some great tips on training your cat to accept injections.

Injection training works for small shots like insulin for diabetes but is also good to practice for subQ fluids. From the start, one of the biggest stumbling blocks has been location. Or even in front of us. Yesterday, I put of one of the big Command hooks on my sloped ceiling. The hook has a weight limit of 5 lbs, which is plenty. Then I got a 24 inch extender hook from a garden shop—the kind used to hang potted plants. And the bag is hanging high enough that gravity kept the flow rate nice and fast.

Smokey got just under ml in about 4 minutes. And she seems to like things better without me squeezing the bag and just pushing the fluids into her super-fast. The syringe method is my favorite method for giving fluids.

You can read about why I feel that way here. I will admit, the internet was woefully lacking in good resources when it comes to using the syringe method.

So much, in fact, that I decided to do something about it! Definitely check Wal-Mart if you have it in your area. They will want the NDC code to look up the item in the system, as it may not be something they normally order. You can post now and register later.
